Aileron stops - View Thread
I've installed the ailerons and pushrods (to bellcranks) and am ready, I think, to install the aileron stops. I don't have the pushtubes installed to the control sticks yet. I've read what I could find about these stops in the matronics archive, but I still have some questions. Can these stops be installed independently of each other or do the ailerons need to be linked together? The up limit on one aileron will set the down limit on the other so it seems to me that maybe they do need to be linked. On the other hand, I would think that the up limits ought to be set the same for both ailerons which would dictate the lower limits. If this makes any sense to anyone out there can you offer some advice?

Aileron stops - RE: - View Thread
I tried the 2 piece hinge pins but find inserting one piece through the aileron mounting bracket to be far easier on the hands. Just apply the boelube and in they go. I'm definitely going to install the stops but I think I'll wait until I've got the ailerons hooked to the controls so I can be sure of what I've got.

Aileron stops - RE: - View Thread
Why not make your flap hinge pin in 2 sections. Thats what I and others oround here have done. remove 3 loops in the middle of the hinge, put a couple of bends for ends in the pins with a nut-plate and screw to secure the pins in the middle. The DAR I used checked for the aileron stops. No stops would have been an issue with him.

Aileron stops - RE: - View Thread
I thought about not installing the stops, but I've noticed that my aileron brackets hit the flap hinge pins that I've left extended for removal through the aileron mount. Since I get plenty of travel before the bracket gets to the pin I can use the stop for two purposes. It may be that once the two ailerons are connected that the down limit of the opposite aileron would keep the bracket away from the hinge pin.

Fuel hoses vs. tubing - View Thread
I have heard of some builders using stainless steel/teflon hoses for fuel and brake lines in the cabin. What's the general opinion on this? It seems like it would be much easier than squirming AL tubing around and through everything.

Fuel hoses vs. tubing - RE: - View Thread
Having done the squirming, I decided that it would definately be easier to use flexible hoses for fuel lines. As far as safety, I don't see a concern here if you use the right hose. We're talking about 5 psi, and the pumps are sucking the fuel through the lines. As a matter of fact, I've decided that if I have a leak or need to replace the fuel lines for any reason, I'm simply going to order a flexible hose to replace it. For brake lines, they seem better suited for AL tubing. They have more changes in direction they have to endure, and while flexible lines would seem to work, securing them may be as much a pain as just running AL tubing. And they are much higher pressure. One of the difficulties for me of using flexible lines from the start was knowing exactly how long of a hose to order, and with what type of end fittings (90 degreee, 45 degree, etc.), and it seemed a high dollar proposition to get it wrong a few times. Now I can see exactly how long they'll need to be and I'll be using them for any future replacement. One thing you have to consider is what to do with them where they exit the fuselage. Are you just going to run them through a hole out to the wing tanks? This seems the best idea to me, but again, I didn't know how long to order them so I stuck with the AL tubing.

Fuel hoses vs. tubing - RE: - View Thread
I used the SS/Teflon hoses for the brakes between my Matco Parking Brake Module and the Pilot Master Cylinders because there was not room for the standard hoses. I used the SS/Teflon hose for the Fuel Supply and Return Lines for ease of installation. While they are nice, they are also expensive.

Rudder Cable Installation - View Thread
Can someone point me to the drawing containing how to attach the rudder cables to the rear fuselage.

Rudder Cable Installation - RE: - View Thread
POINT (that's me pointing to nothing because there is no such drawing...) Just slip a snap bushing over the cable end, then insert it into the hole in whatever bulkhead you're feeding it through. The snap bushings have to flex slightly to make it over the cable end, so put 'em on one at a time before passing the cable through the bulkhead. Then snap the bushing into the bulkhead.
